Louise Miller Boyer and her daughter, Helen King Boyer, were both printmakers. The two often worked together, but they did so in different artistic styles. While Louise created realistic portraits, Helen obscured her own identity in this abstract self-portrait. Her self-portrait reflects on her bedridden childhood, during which she reported feeling as though a plate-glass window separated her from the world.
