DescriptionThis large sculpture consists of multiple reused objects. The sculpture features a monumental metal bell crafted from the nose cone of an unexploded M117 bomb that was recovered in Quang Tri, Vietnam. The bomb was diffused and sold as scrap metal. The artist Tuan Andrew Nguyen acquired the cone and had it cleaned and tuned to play at a "healing vibration" of 432 Hz. The bell hangs with modern hardware from the center of a tripod armature reminiscent of a bell stand at a Buddhist temple. The wooden armature is created from wooden columns and decorative beams salvaged from traditional-style houses in Vietnam. The sculpture includes a detached wooden mallet that can be used to strike the bell in the manner one wood play a temple bell.Exhibition History
