DescriptionA Black baseball player occupies the center of the print. The is seen from a low vantage point so that he towers in the print. He turns his head to his proper right and looks up. He wears a white baseball uniform with thin black stripes (indicating a home game) and a hat. The name of the team on the front of the shirt is hard to read. Presumably Brooklyn, as the Brooklyn Dodgers was the team that hired Jackie Robinson.) He holds a baseball glove in his proper left hand hanging at his side. His proper right hand holds a baseball to the front of his thigh. To the viewer’s left, outfield baseball stadium two-level seating with a bank of lights on top of a pylon. To the viewer’s right, advertisements on the back wall of the outfield. Over his head, a flock of 12 birds heading to the right.Exhibition HistoryThe Lawrence Lithography Workshop: Highlights from the Archive. The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City, MO.
