DescriptionA drawing in ink on the recto of the paper of several people. At left, a man in a soldier's uniform with his right arm held behind him, and a woman, her arm in the crook of his elbow and wearing in a long dress, walk away from the viewer. To their right is a smaller scale drawing of a woman in a black hat and very wide dress. Above her is the caricatured profile of a figure, maybe a man with a narrow beard and poofy hair. At upper center a man in a vaguely Tudor-style outfit stands facing away from the viewer. Other partially finished sketches are in the upper parts of the paper. On the verso of the paper is a drawing of three people: a woman in an elegant, slim-fitting gown holding an open fan; to our right is a short man with a dark mustache and wearing a tuxedo; and farther to our right is a tall man wearing an eighteenth-century style costume and powdered wig. His mouth is open as if he is singing. At lower right is an empty arm chair, facing the group of 3 people.Exhibition History
