DescriptionTall vertical print with olive green background in the lower third and pale blue background in the upper two-thirds. A man in a red robe with thick black and thin yellow stripes, yellow lining shown at the end of the sleeves. Man grasps a sword hilt in both hands: the proper left hand, on the bottom, wears a fingerless black gauntlet; the fingers of the proper right hand are on top. The sword handle is light brown and the curving pale grey blade extends to the top of the picture frame. The man’s realistic face suggests a self-portrait: he has a light mustache and short beard and wears round glasses. In contrast, he wears a stylized black wig with white streaks.ProvenanceC.
