DescriptionImage taken through a window which looks out onto cars lining the street; silhouetted figures are reflected in the window.Gallery LabelImpossibly gargantuan shadows seem to be cast onto a building façade in New York City. However, to take this photograph, Lisette Model pointed her camera at a window across the street whose reflection showed shadows, cars, and the building itself.
Model came to New York in 1938 and worked as a freelance photographer for major magazines like Harper's Bazaar, Look, and Ladies' Home Journal. She also taught photography at the New School for Social Research and mentored Diane Arbus.
