The daguerreotype is the world’s first photographic process. Today, a few skilled practitioners still use it as a means of contemporary artistic expression. This large, brilliant, and microscopically detailed work testifies to the continued creative relevance of a process first introduced to the public in 1839. Mesmerized by the unique physical properties of the daguerreotype, Spagnoli has used this unique and demanding technique since the mid-1990s.
