DescriptionHere, the artist has captured a quiet street lined with multicolored buildings and telephone poles. A woman approaches at the left. A village road forms the center of this horizontally oriented, earth-toned painting. The diagonal lines of the curb converge at the center of the painting, marked by a red-roofed building. Telephone poles decline in size along parallel orthogonals. At right, loosely painted rectangles in varying earthy hues suggest buildings. The buildings at left are more ruddy and carefully defined, with gray roofs visible.ProvenanceCollection of the artist (1906-1988) and his wife, Erika Bourguignon (née Eichhorn, 1924-2015);
