DescriptionOne of twenty photographs included in American Roads portfolio. Image of an "American Sightseeing Tours" bus appears along the bottom with a gridded abstract pattern repeated above. At the very top of the image are portraits of people's heads at varying sizes and heights; all set against a dark black background.Gallery LabelThis curious composition prominently features the geometric pattern of a wall, which visually separates a tour bus at the bottom from a line of figures at top. Combining description and abstraction, the photograph epitomizes Barbara Crane’s experimental work. She once noted of her creative approach: “I attempt to eradicate previous habits of seeing and thinking… I keep searching for what is visually new to me while hoping for a fusion of form and content.”
