Working primarily in the American West, Robert Adams has spent decades exploring the ways in which this landscape has been both shaped and scarred by human activity. This photograph is part of a larger body of work titled Los Angeles Spring (1978–1983), a meditation on the greater Los Angeles basin. Adams is known for the unflinching clarity of his vision, and his characteristic tone of both celebration and criticism.
