DescriptionThis is a realistic stoneware figure of a seated woman. Her legs are bent at the knees with her feet flat on the floor. Her bent elbows nearly rest on her thighs and she holds a carrier pigeon in her hands. The surface of the figure is finished with paint, pastels and mixed media and is unglazed. The woman has a sickly pale white complexion with undertones of orange. The subject is bald, with bloodshot eyes, a slightly opened mouth and is nearly nude except for underwear briefs. The eyes have a clear glaze or coating over them to saturate the color and to depict tears. The polychrome pigeon is decorated in various shades of violet, black, white and brown pigments, with a small note attached to the proper right foot.
