DescriptionImage of man wearing suit and hat while seated on sidewalk next to suitcase.Exhibition HistoryRotation 23. The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City, MO, January 18 – May 28, 2017, no cat.
A resident of Kansas City, Adam Long puts his own mark on the great tradition of street photography. Choosing to work with a largeformat camera in an unhurried and open manner, he gains both the permission and the participation of his subjects. This photograph suggests the first paragraph of a short story— the start of a rich and intriguing human tale. By their nature, photographs do not tell; they show. But what is eloquently shown can point us, as viewers, to the stories we have to tell.
