DescriptionImage of a smiling baby (top of dress sliding from shoulders) seated next to a stand used for holding people's heads still. The image is somewhat blurred, primarily due to movement of the baby during exposure. This sixth-plate daguerreotype is housed in a brass mat inside of a leather covered case embossed with an oval motif and herringbone pattern and a red velvet liner embossed with a floral motif.
