DescriptionImage of a woman seated in profile while breast-feeding a baby. This half-plate daguerreotype is housed in a brass oval mat inside of a dark brown leather case with an embossed oval motif and gold tooling and a deep blue velvet liner. There is applied red pigment in the flesh areas of the mother and baby, as well as in the mother's scarf, and on a bracelet on the baby's arm. There is an applied gold chain around the mother's neck.
