DescriptionImage of a smiling woman seated next to a girl; the woman holds what appears to be an engraving portrait of George Washington. Object is hand-colored; possibly by Langenheim or other Philadelphia-area firm. This half-plate daguerreotype is housed in an octagonal paper mat stamped with a scroll motif and covered with a bronzing powder or foil. It is inside of a leather covered wooden case with an urn motif and a dark maroon velvet liner.
