DescriptionA fire on a Kansas plain.Gallery Label

A bright orange blaze illuminates prairie grasslands in this dramatic view of a controlled fire in the Flint Hills of Kansas. Set ablaze every spring to ensure the health of that season’s new growth, these fires help maintain the ecosystem of this federally protected region. In his dramatic view, Larry Schwarm omits any human presence to emphasize the awesome power of nature.
