At his highly influential school in New York City, Clarence White taught such notable students as Clara Sipprell, Laura Gilpin, Paul Outerbridge and Anton Bruehl. Many of them, including Bernard S. Horne, were greatly influenced by modernist aesthetics, as seen in this beautifully resolved geometric abstraction of light and shadow.
