Sally Mann’s intimate portraits of her children convey both the innocence and candor of childhood. Mann took this photograph on her family property in rural Virginia. Her daughtersJessie (left) and Virginia (right) play dress-up behind a pickup truck with a license plate that reads "Gorjus." The picture suggests both the romantic ideals of white Southern girlhood as well as the individual personalities of the girls themselves.
