This photograph does nothing more mysterious than document a curious natural event. Kenneth Josephson recorded a moment after patches of frost had melted in areas warmed by direct sunlight but remained in areas of shade. The resulting phenomenon renders the white "shadow" of a black car, reversing our expectations.
