DescriptionImage of multistory buildings taken from a high vantage point.Exhibition HistoryRotation 7. The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City, MO, December 7, 2009 – May 17, 2010, no cat.
This urban view, taken from the window of An American Place, Alfred Stieglitz’s New York gallery, emphasizes bold architectural geometries, textures, sparkling light, and deep shadows. Stieglitz’s vantage point eliminates the street below, focusing attention instead on the rhythms and forms of a man-made realm suspended between ground and sky.
