This self-portrait depicts Edward Steichen at the peak of his commercial career as chief photographer for Condé Nast’s publications Vogue and Vanity Fair, a position he held from 1923 to 1937. This dynamic composition depicts the photographer with his trademark studio tools: a tripod-mounted 8x10-inch camera and an array of studio lights.
