DescriptionFrom squat dark-red globular form rises tall, slender cylinder of frosted white glass green-tinted at top and bottom. Etched in relief, orange-red chrysanthemum stalk with three blooms, several branche and buds, and many leaves on white the veins are incised.Gallery LabelEmile Gallé’s atmospheric effects in glass rivaled those his contemporaries created in paint. He accomplished subtle gradients by using acid-bath immersion to reveal multiple layers of glass, which were then enhanced with carved details. Here, the first layer would have been white, then yellow, and then orange.
