DescriptionThe body of the silverplated water pitcher is cylindrical, double-walled and sits on a circular base. The top of the pitcher's handle is decorated with four circular bands, overlapping feathers and floral motifs. The band of featherlike ornamentation encircles the pitcher's thumb rest. The pitcher's spout is stout and decorated with abstract floral motifs. The lid of the pitcher is hinged with a band of abstract floral ornamentation on the top and a scallop-shaped finial, ornamented on the edge with small balls. The body of the pitcher is decorated at the top with first, one band of abstract floral ornamentation, then a plain rounded band, and then three bands of abstract floral and geometric ornamentaiton. The center of the pitcher's body is decorated with engraved flowers and foliage, against a polished silver ground. There are three more bands of abstract floral ornamentation at the base of the pitcher's body. "M. Atkins" is engraved on the body of the pitcher underneath the spout.
