DescriptionThe water pitcher has a globular glass body with diamond-cut hexagonal panels that surround star-shaped rosetttes. The glass is encircled by a silver rope-twist band below the first row of diamond-cut panels. The neck and handle of the pitcher are case silver. The silver neck is encircled with a scene of human figures among grapevines and a banded reed border. The rim and spout is ornamented with scrolls and shells. Underneath the spout is a large Pan mask: a human face with mustache, beard and goat ears and horns. The handle is embellished with bellflower roping, acanthus leaves and scale work.
