DescriptionThis work features two figures, one male and one female, connected by a chain at the top of their heads. Each figure sits on a rectangular-shaped piece of bronze that is pierced along two edges. Attached through these holes are chains that terminate in bell-like shapes. A spike protrudes from the bottom of each rectangle. The bodies of both figures are attenuated. The faces are the same, relaively round and flat and also bearded. The female holds a breast in each hand; a belt rests in the hands of the male.ProvenanceWith Lucien van de Velde, Antwerp, Belgium, by May 2002 [1];
Purchased, through L& R Entwistle & Co., Ltd., by The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City, MO, 2004.
