DescriptionBewigged man seated center wearing velvet coat and knee breeches; long, brocaded waistcoat, stock; left forearm supported on table, right, which bears globe, right arm extended forward along chair arm, index finger pointing left, where beyond sair rail, three large sailing ships and severals small boats; two columns behind him partly obscured by billowing, tasseled drape extending across top. Bottom center is Bernard crest and inscription.
