DescriptionHangire (trousers worn with Nō robe (atsuita type), purple ground with gold peony design.Gallery LabelThe bold design of these trousers suited powerful characters such as high-class warriors, demons, bandits, and strong gods. When worn, voluminous hangire-type trousers give the actor a sculptural presence, as illustrated in the woodblock print nearby.
