[1] According to Herbert Tannenbaum, in a letter to Patrick Kelleher, Curator, January 17, 1955 (but erroneously dated 1954), NAMA Registration files, Tannenbaum acquired this work “…from a German immigrant, who came to this country from Bremen. He purchased this work during the first World War, in Berlin, from an art dealer, probably Alfred Flechtheim.” The identity of the private collector is currently unknown.
