DescriptionAngular rocks rendered with stiff, smooth outlines, sharp "axe-cut" strokes, and smooth, hard gradated washes, above which great bollowing waves, rendered with long, smooth strokes and gradated washes at the edges, and clouds in gold leaf; and below, between the rock formations are crashing and foaming waves; and a cloud formation in gold leaf. Extensive abrasion and tearing; small flecks of gold paint were added later to mask obtrusive damage. Size, thickness of paper, and damage suggest that these were once fusuma.ProvenanceH.
