DescriptionOne of a pair, a two-door cabinet of tall, slightly tapered outline, the wood-hinged doors cut from the same block of chi-ch'i-mu wood to yield a symmetrical pattern in the grain, the side panels also in chi-ch'i-mu and the remaining structural elements in hua-mu, the top panel projecting over the elegantly splayed corner posts and the dorrs mortised and tenoned into the mitered frames of the top and base with a narrow apron ending in short scroll motifs joining the short legs, the woods of good color and the mounts all original Ming white brass inlaid with small copper medallions of characteristic 16th-century design. The interior with three, open shelves and with a pair of drawers below the center shelf in one cabinet, now missing in the other cabinet, with original pale green lacquer on the interior, back and sides.
