By tricking the eye, or trompe l’oeil, Richard Shaw blends illusion, whimsy and craftsmanship to amaze the viewer. What appears to be a mixture of found objects, such as cardboard and a paint can, stacked to form a lighthouse, are actually fashioned from porcelain. How do these everyday things, placed together, tell a story?
