Gallery LabelRendered with subtlety and nuance, these clustered vessels reveal Giorgio Morandi’s masterful ability to depict forms with light and shadow. To achieve the full range of tones in this etching, Morandi varied the density of lines drawn through an acid-resistant layer covering the circular copper plate. Then, he varied the length of time that the exposed copper lines were etched in an acid bath. Morandi taught the printmaking process at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Bologna, Italy.
