René Lalique had two careers in two different centuries. In 1900, he was the most celebrated jeweler in the world, but by 1925, he was the most well-known glassmaker. Deeply influenced by nature, he created many designs that include plants and animals illustrated using the curving lines of the Art Nouveau style. This molded glass vase has four sections of identical designs. A background of flowers and fruit-bearing trees, possible pineapple, is framed by alligators inside vertical curves.
