Gallery LabelThis image of infant boys expresses the common wish in Chinese culture to bear male descendants. These well-fed, plump boys would have been born and raised in a wealthy family. The glowing garden—featuring a canopy of blossoms and ripened peaches and a pair of mandarin ducks on the pond—flaunts the family’s wealth and fertility.
