Exhibition HistoryBonjour Picasso!, The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City, MO, September 22, 2012-February 10, 2013, no cat., as Figures.
With simple, flowing lines Picasso animates the figures of two children and the conversation between a man and a woman. He made this little drawing soon after his arrival in Paris. At that time, Picasso lived in a decrepit studio building at 13, Rue Ravignan, the address indicated here. The building, nicknamed Le Bateau-Lavoir (laundry barge), for the way it creaked and swayed on stormy days, would later be home to other young, impoverished artists arriving in Paris.
