DescriptionThe pilgrim’s robe (kanman) is made of hemp. The surface bears many black and vermillion temple stamps and ink calligraphy inscription. Identifiable inscriptions and stamps are saigoku dai kyū ban 西国第九番, Zōjō tennō 増上天王, Jizō daibosatsu地蔵大菩薩, Fugen bosatsu普賢菩薩, Dai Seishi (or Seshi) bosatsu大勢至菩薩, Fudō myōō 不動明王, Tamon tennō多聞天王, Kokūzō bosatsu虚空蔵菩薩, Monju bosatsu 文殊菩薩, Kanzeon bosatsu 観世音菩薩, Dainichi nyorai 大日如来, Gansan Jikei daishi元三慈慧大師, Akayama daigongen赤山大権現, Kōbō daishi弘法大師, Mikami daigongen三上大権現, Rigen daishi理源大師, Asama daigongen 浅間大権現, Kōmoku tennō広目天王, Jikoku tennō 持國天王, Kōyasan daigaran 高野山大伽藍, Ōmine sannai dōjō大峰山内道場, Taizōkai kaiun Benzaiten胎蔵界開運弁財天, and Kongōkai gyōja daibosatsu金剛界行者大菩薩.
