For Market Place, Betty S. Stoner drew inspiration from a dynamic open-air market. She contrasts light against dark and figure against ground. The result is a mosaic-like pattern that activates and fills the entire composition. This contrasts with the linear quality of her husband’s Road to Market, No. 2.
