DescriptionA large, lidded vessel covered with a dark green glaze simulating patinated bronze. A single fox figure is perched atop a flared handle, leaning over to view a hare’s head. Hare and fox figures, articulated in pounce and arched stances circle the flared top edge, evocative of a chase. The text WHERE THE FOX AND THE HARE SAY GOODNIGHT TO EACH OTHER is engraved in thin block letters filling a thick band at the top of the form. Four foxes and hares in repose surround the bottom rim at the vessel's base.ProvenanceAmerican Century Investments, Kansas City, MO, 1994.
