DescriptionImage of a bearded man seated with his arms crossed. He's holding a folded letter in his left hand and an open cased daguerreotype in his right. His shirt is partially unbuttoned revealing hair on his chest and he looks into the camera with a furrowed brow. This quarter plate daguerreotype is housed in a brass mat inside the back tray of a decorative paper covered wooden case (lid missing) with blue velvet trim and gold tooling along the perimeter.Provenance
