DescriptionA tiara of copper, bronze, gold leaf, and enamel paint. Three large red flowers surrounded by green leaves are connected with a flat profile of copper and bronze metal covered with varying layers and patches of gold leaf. All of the surfaces are either painted or covered with gold leaf.Exhibition HistoryKansas Artist Craftsmen Association Members Exhibition, juried by Bruce Hartman, Director of the Nerman Museum, exhibited at the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art, Johnson County Community College, Overland Park, KS.
Gina Westergard created a dynamic tiara that extends around the head unlike traditional semicircular bands. Three red flowers, inspired by bleeding heart plants embellish the green leaves. A dynamic gold wave gives the illusion of movement. Westergard often uses nature as a major theme in her work. She is inspired by the 137 acres of farmland and woodlands in rural Kansas where she lives and works.
