DescriptionThe wall hanging consists of three long panels sewn together. On a field of brown silk velvet, the hanging is woven with lotuses and vine and leaf scrolls. The primary motif is a fully blossomed, salmon-pink lotus in the center surrounded by six smaller lotuses, two of them on each side panel and two near the edges of the central panel. These medallion-shaped lotuses are set against the scroll patterns in light and deep greens, as well as pink. Three layers of border bands frame the central piece. The widest band in the outer layer is designed with line patterns with recurring swastika symbols. The two thinner bands in the inner layers feature botanic scrolls and varying fret patterns.
