DescriptionImage of street flanked by multistory residences. Power lines and street lights stretch across the road which is littered with parked cars but is void of pedestrians.Gallery LabelThomas Struth’s series Unconscious Places explores urban spaces throughout Europe, Japan, and the United States. To make these pictures, Struth established a rigid formal system, often standing in the middle of the street to compose his view. He made photographs in each location, finding views that could "summarize a city" from an emotionally detached perspective.
