DescriptionStoneware slab plate with circular depression in the center with glazed in grey and decorated with abstracted foliage in black, blue and red.Gallery LabelThis slab combines a glazed and unglazed form with simple, naturalistic decoration. David Shaner’s minimalist shape of a square with a circle mimics painting and sculpture from the 1960s and 1970s. He also refers to traditional ceramics in its decoration. The lines with leaves are based on Shoji Hamada’s spontaneous design of grasses.
