DescriptionPainted in a sketchy style, the image shows a massive figure seated within a post and lintel structure at the top of six stair-steps and flanked by two free-standing columns. At the base of the stairs, a figure in white appears to be facing the figure above him. These two individuals are surrounded on either side by a retinue of others dressed in shades of ochre and sienna. All are set in what appears to be a monumental architectural setting of great formality.ProvenanceJoseph F. McCrindle (1923-2008), New York, by July 11, 2008;
