DescriptionIn altitude training for the 1968 Olympics, the lone runner (Jim Ryun) appears miniscule against a massive sun-saturated sand dune in the Great Sand Dunes of Colorado, as he runs across the shadowed ridge of another dune in a path which travels toward the left side of the composition in the lower third of the image. The runner's path will eventually intersect with a sunny patch where converging footprints dot the surface of the dunes.Copyright© Rich Clarkson
