DescriptionA twelve-leaf coromandal lacquer screen depicts scenes from the novel, "Sanguo Yanyi, The Stories of the Three Kingdoms." The image portrays several groups of men and women, including soldiers and servants. The setting is a huge mansion with pavilions, bridges and an elaborate garden. They are indulging in various activities: drinking tea, conversing, strolling, and guarding. Around the edges and the back of the screen are illustrated auspicious symbols: objects, birds, and flowers.
