Other institutions that collect Leighton's prints, as well as Getty's Union List of Artists, claims Leighton for the good old U.S.A. Although born in London, she came to this country in 1939 and became a citizen in 1945.

Leighton's birth date should be 1898, not 1901. I confirmed this with they Getty's Union List as well as the 1992 Ashmolean Museum's catalogue "Clare Leighton: Wood Engravings adn Drawings" that was authored by the artist's nephew.
