DescriptionHaniwa head is made of earthenware with traces of color. The face is oval and shows a smiling expression. The eyes and the mouth were cut out, and the nose, ears, eyebrows, and hair (possible head ornament) were added to the head. The top half of the head and both sides of the face show traces of reddish-brown color, suggesting this figure was painted.
