DescriptionThe lacquer incense box consists of a rounded cover and a rounded body. The surfaces of the cover and body are deeply carved with a ring of pommel scrolls with a floral pattern in the center. The top layer of the relief is vermilion and the carved intaglio is dark red. The incense box is packed in layers of embroidered fabrics and boxes. These wrappings are assumed to be made in Japan.ProvenanceEchizen Unryuji;
