DescriptionImage of a small log cabin built into the side of a sloping hill leading down to a group of gold miners. Some of the men are seated on the hillside next to a man riding a donkey. The others (including one Chinese miner) are posed in the gravel near their sluice box. This half plate daguerreotype is housed in a brass mat inside of a paper covered wooden case with a burgundy embossed liner. The case depicts an image of an urn filled with flowers and the liner is embossed with roses and surrounding foliage.Exhibition History
